And so it begins

A little wine, and the new Gaius Baltar page is up. It's a stub. Plenty of jokes there. :) --EvilSpencerian 22:07, 31 July 2007 (CDT)

rofl. I started with the categories :D Shane 22:11, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
Quite funny! I was thinking we'd do one on Baltar's schlong, which we could categorize as a WMD. :P -- Joe Beaudon 22:15, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
Thanks for this. It's a great idea. I am already thoroughly amused, and I'm just warming up. :) JubalHarshaw 14:24, 2 August 2007 (CDT)
You're welcome! :-) -- Joe Beaudoin 17:48, 2 August 2007 (CDT)

Before it gets too "crowded"

I will work on making it a "system linkable" item so we can do the different sub-domains.. if it gets that far and again place the images under media. I'll do this tomorrow. Shane 22:18, 31 July 2007 (CDT)

Cool. Curious, tho... Would it be possible to share uploads and content between this and the BW Media repository? -- Joe Beaudon 22:20, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
Yes. Good idea. I will work on that also. Shane 22:22, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
Oh, frak. And I just added a site notice on the real wiki. I'll take it down until we're ready. The wine's making me do it! --EvilSpencerian 22:25, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
No that's fine, it's a change most people won't even notice... and good to get some people in here while I head to bed right now. :D Shane 22:27, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
I wouldn't worry about it, Kevin. The blog entry says that it's in beta, so people will know it's being worked on. You can just edit the message to reflect that there's work going on behind the scenes, and link to the appropriate blog post. -- Joe Beaudon 22:28, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
Fan stuff is going here also?! :D Shane 22:33, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
nm. I had to bold the entry on the blog to read it. :) Shane 22:34, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
Yeah. LOL. Now Kevin can post his write up about that lost BSG episode, "All Your Battlestar Belong To Us". :-D -- Joe Beaudoin 22:44, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
That's not very frakkin' funny. I really liked that article. :) --EvilSpencerian 22:52, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
As a g33k, so did I. :) -- Joe Beaudoin 22:53, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
I'd like to read the article! -- Veeps 22:54, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
I'm going to import it within a few minutes... -- Joe Beaudoin 22:55, 31 July 2007 (CDT)

All Your Battlestars Belong to Us

Now added. Obviously, the episode infobox still needs to be added, but the text is there. -- Joe Beaudoin 23:10, 31 July 2007 (CDT)

(snif). It's still funny to me...it lives! IT LIVES! --EvilSpencerian 08:33, 1 August 2007 (CDT)
(After throwing an obscenely large switch...) It is ah-liiiiiiiiiiive. Muhahahahahahahahahahahaha! -- Joe Beaudoin 08:35, 1 August 2007 (CDT)

BW: interwiki binding

Could you bind BW: to Battlestar Wiki? That'll make User:Catrope work... --Catrope 16:44, 1 August 2007 (CDT)

Will do. -- Joe Beaudoin 16:45, 1 August 2007 (CDT)
Done. -- Joe Beaudoin 16:56, 1 August 2007 (CDT)

Cylons

So what's going on with the Cylon articles? We've mainly got two pages right now (Cylons (RDM) and Toasters) which don't really seem to fit any particular dichotomy...that is, if Cylons are Toasters, then there are no RDM Cylons...if that makes sense. Not that this place should make TOO much sense. And did the Toaster article get shorter? I seem to remember it being significantly larger. It had stuff about airplane Cylons and all that. I miss the airplane Cylons.

Sorry if I seem incoherent, but I'm getting a bit confused here. JDS 00:50, 3 August 2007 (CDT)

You're thinking Spot the Cylon for the "airplane Cylon" reference. Let confusion reign! And I agree, making too much sense here is counterproductive; the true encyclopedic mission is handled beautifully by Battlestar Wiki - here we should be totally irreverent toward any fictional topic relating to BSG. In my opinion, breaking out TOS and RDM for each topic is almost wasted; we can maybe have more fun and funny by combining information on one article. I fully expect some hilarious yet totally appropriate Categories to be created as well. Thanks again, Joe and all those who came up with and implemented this idea. :) JubalHarshaw 15:29, 3 August 2007 (CDT)
I tend to agree. Basically, we can cross the bridge when we come to it regarding the whole disambiguation thing. Obviously, for lager topics, we may want to disambiguate right away; smaller topics really aren't worth it, in my view. -- Joe Beaudoin 15:39, 3 August 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, it was the Spot a Cylon article, but that's my point...we're just piling up overlapping articles at this point. I think some of this wiki is getting too serious, I mean much of it is just actual information delivered in a sarcastic or informal tone (check out Pegasus (TOS), for example). Basically, whenever we get into splitting stuff between TOS, 1980, and RDM, we're probably being too serious. We need more articles like Toaster or anything in the style of the Uncyclopedia articles labelled as being "insane" (check out http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Category:Insane). Do you guys see what I'm saying? JDS 16:36, 3 August 2007 (CDT)
Alot of that sarcastic and informal tone is me. I'm feeling very irreverent, cynical, and jaded lately. By all means, edit, change, remove, improve. I'm all for some Insanity! JubalHarshaw 20:50, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

Inline Adbrite ads

The new inline Adbrite ads are REALLY FUCKING ANNOYING.

I'm serious, I have no problem with banner ads or whatever. Even popups are better than these, they make the text harder to read and they get confusing with the inline ads interspersed with the inline links. Plus, they make the site look really, really bad and cheap. I don't think anybody will take this site seriously if it's filled with that crap (I know, I know, it's not supposed to be serious, but YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN).

Come on, isn't there any other type of ad we could use instead? JDS 00:30, 4 August 2007 (CDT)

Oh, AND they're already making the wiki harder to work with by popping up IN FRONT OF whatever I'm trying to click on so I can't get to it. THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE A "CLOSE" BUTTON SO I CAN GET THEM OUT OF THE WAY! JDS 00:33, 4 August 2007 (CDT)

Sure a little ugly, but they probably help pay wiki bills. And I don't have trouble getting them out of my way. Moving your cursor away and a couple of clicks seems to do the job. -- Veeps 01:11, 4 August 2007 (CDT)
I see what you're talking about.... Yeah, I just disabled them. -- Joe Beaudoin 02:56, 4 August 2007 (CDT)
Thank you! JDS 11:39, 4 August 2007 (CDT)

Thank you!

I didn't realize you could do that with the stub template. Certainly makes things easier JDS 20:07, 6 August 2007 (CDT)

Yes siree. No problem! :-) -- Joe Beaudoin 20:08, 6 August 2007 (CDT)

Seriouspage template

The perfect complement to the bsgwiki template! Great idea. As if you haven't noticed, I've been going kind of wild around here ... and I'm pretty jaded and cynical lately. Hopefully I'm at least halfway funny, but any which way, I'm having a great time, thanks again! Drunken Viceroy JubalHarshaw 20:50, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

Actually, I'm the one that should (and will!) thank you for all that you're doing! :-) -- Joe Beaudoin 21:03, 9 August 2007 (CDT)

You've outdone yourself again

He That Puteth In Me = amazing. JubalHarshaw 00:07, 9 April 2008 (CDT)

Thanks! :D I'm trying to figure out my next target. LOL -- Joe Beaudoin 09:42, 9 April 2008 (CDT)

Login issue

Hi Joe. I'm having a problem logging into Battlestar Wiki, both on IE7 and Firefox. It appears to accept my login but then when I go to any other page I seem to be logged out again. I seem to be fine on Wiki Frakr. This just started happening post unified-login. I'm using the old skin over there, in case that might be relevant. Thanks. JubalHarshaw 10:59, 1 June 2008 (CDT)

JH, I am looking into it right now. :) Shane 15:01, 1 June 2008 (CDT)
According to the "admin" of the SUL, both JubalHarshaw logins from the en and media wiki were merged. Are you selecting "Save login on this computer?". You might also want to clear all battlestarwiki.org cookies form your system. I did this and it saved me a bunch. Shane 15:03, 1 June 2008 (CDT)

Broken but good

Looks like I broke Samuel Anders but good by adding a thumbnail of his pic from bsgwiki:Samuel Anders. Sorry! JubalHarshaw 14:23, 9 June 2008 (CDT)

It's an odd error... I'm trying to look into it. Not your fault. Just something that's really freaky. (I may have to upgrade the MediaWiki version that Wiki Frakr users to the new 1.13alpha anyway, since that might be the issue there.) -- Joe Beaudoin 17:36, 9 June 2008 (CDT)

Word. Just wanted to let you know. Should I revert it to a previous revision or leave it for you to test against? JubalHarshaw 00:06, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I've commented out the image for now... I'll work on it after I'm done with all these real estate ads and other BS. Probably won't be until tomorrow. -- Joe Beaudoin 01:20, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

And the hits keep coming

Hi Joe, hope all is well. I noticed today that if I'm not logged into Wiki Frakr, the "references" section of articles isn't visible. As soon as I log in, they reappear. Strange. Just thought I'd let you know. JubalHarshaw 16:57, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Bleh. I know what it is. The damn extension needs to be updated. (We had this problem on the Wiki, but we didn't realize it because we were logged in all the time, and no one reported it.) LOL -- Joe Beaudoin 16:59, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
