Overview
- Good people get hurt
- The admiral got hit by a Cylon
- Starfrak turns out to be as big 'ho as Ellen was.
Summary
There's a boxing ring on the hangardeck, next to the vipers. People are hiting each other, they like it more than anything. We got nice shots on the big Agathon's muscles and not-fat-Lee's bleeding face. Helo wins the match, he got tough frakkin' a Cylon. Kara and Mr. Hotshot having sex, but Starfrak wants more, so she goes to the boxing ring. While Racetrack is beaten by Kat, people start flashing back the time on Nu Craprica, like it had been a nice, sunny place instead of a pile of mud. Bill and Laura were smoking a joint, others were dancing, Lee frakked Kara. When it turns out, the chief stopped the repair of the planes to watch the fight, Adama challenges him. Tyrol beats the crap out of the old man, who makes a speach about his own mistakes, and leaves the ring, covered in blood, than ends the tournament. Before people could get sad and start to drink, if there's no fight, Starbuck starts mocking about Lee, who hits her, and they start a sexy dogfight. Both forget the rules of boxing, while they start to remember the things they did on the shitty planet. Nothing interesting happens after all, we've already known that Thrace's a bitch and we've got the clue, that's why Lee didn't send antibiotics for Sam.
Notes
- The fights shown (and the winners) are: Helo vs. Apollo (Helo), Starbuck vs. Hot Dog (Starbuck), Kat vs. Racetrack (Kat), Tyrol vs. William Adama (Tyrol; albeit it is a strong possibility that Adama deliberately threw the fight), Apollo vs. Starbuck (draw). One other fight is shown with Sergeant Fischer fighting a member of the crew portrayed by mixed martial artist Paul Lazenby (Fischer).[1]
- The flashbacks were shot earlier when the New Caprica arc was shot and retained to later include them into other episodes. When "Unfinished Business" was written to be about releasing the characters' penned up anger, it was decided to put all flashbacks into a single episode.[2]
- Jammer and Duck can be seen during the groundbreaking ceremony. From the point of view of the present timeframe, both are dead.
- Dialogue error: when Adama is down in his corner and bleeding badly, Roslin says "coagulant for the swelling, ice for the bleeding". This indicates, she is not a doctor, but a schoolteacher.
Analysis
- This is the first episode thus far to make New Caprica look like a pleasant place to live. Every other episode on-planet has shown it to be dreary and spartan. Past alwasy seems better, then it really was.
Questions
- Why would be anyone interested in a Tyrol-Adama fight?
- Why did Cally bring his baby child to this hole of violence?
- Why is Lee so miserable? Why can't he act like a man, and kick Starfrak out an airlock instead of playing her stupid games?
Noteworthy Dialogue
- Roslin: Is this really it, Bill? Is this how we're gonna spend all the rest of our days? Hmm?
- Roslin: Maybe we should just enjoy this.
- Adama: I am.
- Roslin: No, no, I mean enjoy being here on this planet as long as it lasts. I mean, maybe the Cylons come back, maybe they don't, but for now, right now... We've got a break.
- Adama: I've got people that want to get off the ship, move down here.
- Roslin: Can't say as I blame them. I mean, what are you gonna do?
- Adama: I'm gonna smoke another joint, drink another Ambrosia, and invite you to a nice riverbank and make this night unforgetable for you.
- Taking his talk with Roslin to heart, Adama changes his mind on the Tyrols:
- Adama: I've been thinking about, uh, what you said. A battlestar's no place to raise a family. So I'm gonna miss you, Chief. I wanna wish you good luck.
- Tyrol: Thank you, sir.
- Adama: My best to both of you.
- Cally: You mean it? Really? Thank you.
- Adama: I want you guys to have at least a dozen.
- Cally: (laughs) We'll see about that.
- Adama: I think, that president Baltar will give you any kind of supporting for this goal.
- During the fight between Admiral Adama and Chief Tyrol:
- Wiliam Adama: This how you fight your enemies, Chief? This how you fight for your life? No excuses. Show me you're a soldier. Get up!
- Galen Tyrol: Is that what you want? Is that what you want, Admiral?
- Kara Thrace: Nice, Admiral! (turns to Lee Adama) The old man's got chops. He knows when to make his moves, when to hold back. I wish I could say the same for his son.
