Racetrack, no need to be bashful. We've seen you nude before.

Margaret "Racetrack"[1] Edmondson is a Raptor pilot that frequently serves as "ECO of the Week" in a number of episodes, a title she inherits from Alex "Crashdown" Quartararo after he is shot in the back on Kobol.

She is often used as a plot tool whenever anything unexpectedly goes wrong. Her exploits include a substantial list of frakups, including:

  • forgetting to mention Boomer's freakout aboard the Basestar until after Boomer shot Commander Adama (Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II)
  • failure to notice a bomb strapped to the bottom of her Raptor (The Son Also Rises)
  • failure to notice an incoming Cylon fleet because she was too busy playing cards (Crossroads, Part I)
  • flying her Raptor into Colonial One after blowing out the Raptor's engines (Dirty Hands)
  • losing her escort ship while bringing it through a star system (The Passage)
  • jumping to the wrong coordinates during the Caprica Search and Rescue mission on the very first jump (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I)
  • failure to properly land her Raptor after losing a single thruster (Embrace Verbosity)
  • siding against the Old Man in a doomed-from-the-start mutiny
  • smashing headlong into an asteroid and posthumously blasting the hell out of The Colony[2]

Of course, none of those match her "Starbuckian" frakup of intergalactic proportions: discovering Nu Craprica!

  • Shane has a huge crush on Margaret Edmonson!

  1. Though the origins of the callsign "Racetrack" are unknown, it is undoubtedly related to her sexual habits.
  2. Come to think of it, that wasn't really a frakup. Hitting the asteroid was, though.
