Leland[1]"Lee" Adama is the whiny pretty-boy offspring of William Adama. His father's shadow grows long and the weight, we fear, is more than Lee can bear.
If the human race spent as much time looking for Earth or Kobol as he spends brooding we would have been saved a long time ago. Like episode two season one. Still he IS amazingly handsome so he can get away with it... with anything he wants.
He likes to frak Dualla, Kara Thrace, Gianne, random whores, and has been known to rub a hard six now and again.
He is a whiny idealist, can be convinced by anyone in the matter of five minutes by using the words "system", "good", "democracy", "people".
He also ate a whole lot of shit[2] (probably was responsible for the starvation thing that the Fleet went through after Nu Craprica), but gets drunk by just looking at alcohol. Just ask Bono Napkin... or whatever his fraking name is.

Military Career
He appears right in the Miniseries as Captain Apollo, saves the Secretary of Education from Cylon missiles using a trick with two big copper rings nobody knows how. As soon as humanity's destroyed, he becomes the only CAG in the universe (daddy's son...). He does his job quite poorly, he simply doesn't fit in the military, as Starbuck-buck-buck explains in 33. He wants all the male soldiers to be his drinking buddies (except Rummy, Lee spots a gun in the old alcoholist's face), and all female soldiers to be his frakin' buddy, but he can't reach these goals, as seen above.
All right, long story short, after 3 dead commanders, he gets Pegasus from his father for a ride, but the bad kid crashes that nice gift into a basestar, so he gets back to Galactica again, as CAG.
Convenient New Career
After riding his daddy's coat-tails for Seasons 1,2, and 3, providing his girlfriend/wife a cushy new job and promotion, managing to scare a 5 year old girl with a rag doll, running out on his pregnant girlfriend and letting the Cylons toast her, getting the most hated man in the Universe acquitted (by stabbing his former friend Roslin in the back (and twisting)), what's left for someone with looks and this sort of record to do, but go into politics?
Due to the unexpected death of his predecessor[3] and his friends in the 'Good ol Boys Network', he was handed the job by his former (literal) Partner in Crime, Tom Zarek, and is appointed to the Quorum of 12.
Later, during a period of hallucination and near-madness, Bono Napkin determines that he is the ONLY POSSIBLE CANDIDATE[4] for President of the Colonies.
Schizophremia
Lee could have a very great conversation about himself, mainly between his Season 1-self and Season 3-final-episode-self. After he saved the ass of Tom Zarek, he stated, that an election must be hold, becouse of the law, and if there is no law you're not a Commander and blah-blah-blah. While saving the ass of Baltardo, he said accurately the opposite thing.
