Dogs are pretty common in both series.

Let's start with the obvious. They're animals and they don't contribute much to society.

Original Galaxative

Apparently, the Original Series had dogs. We saw one before it was crushed by debris on Craprica.[1]

No more scooping and bagging, just get a magnet!

Apparently, no dogs survived the assault on the Colonies by the Cylons. So, of course, Doctor Wilker creates a dog, with the locomotion of a trained chimpanzee. It's robotic, so we have to give it allowances.

I know people hate "Fuckit", but let's be honest here... it's a lot better than "Debbie" in Lost in Space, who was a chimp with fake ears!

The great thing about the robotic daggit... All you need is a powerful magnet to pick up its leavings.

Regurgitated Galaxtive

Jake and his bowl. His empty, empty bowl.

Hey, Chief Frakhead, do we need to put up a sign that says "Will collaborate for food?"

In the "new" series, whatever that is, they make no effort to rename things, since they think were stoopid. So dogs are, well, dogs.

Of course, one of them is a collaborator to the Nu Craprica Resistance. Of course, we don't see why, since people kick over his dog bowl every chance they "drop" important papers off.

  1. The lesson here is that dogs should have a better sense of self-preservation and not run to their master obediently, particularly if there are falling debris between you and your master.
