Overview

Gaius "The One" Baltar and "Wailin'" Galen Tyrol get to know one another. Anti-Cylon paranoia is at an all-time high. Nothing much else really happens, that we didn't already know about. To be continued ...

Summary

On Galactica

The Chief has shaved his head, so he can go faster. The lack of hair helps cool his brain, and he finally begins to think that just maybe, Cally's freakout wasn't caused by eating bad mushrooms. So he goes to Baltar, who is doing his best to not at all be Jesus, oh no. Baltar offers the Chief a handshake, intimating that the one thing Cally had always wanted was some man-on-man action. However, Galen comes on a bit too strong. Saul Tigh, unusually sprightly from a solid month of the Cylon Forgiveness Ceremony, tells the Chief to get it together.

Then later, Baltar shows up in the Chief's quarters, and they shake hands. Literally, that's all that happens in the whole episode. No Adama, no Roslin, no Cylon spies hiding in the closet, no nothing.

On the other hand, we almost get to see Tory's boobies.[1]

On Demetrius

Helo emotes badly, but that doesn't matter, because he is a mountain of a man. Starbuck looks like she could use a shower. A barely-named sergeant takes a tilium explosion to the face. Leoben shows back up to explain things that we already know, again.

Longshot's flying skills need work, especially landings. When/if they get back to Galactica, his undercarriage going to need a lot of work.[1]. Also his viper will need to be looked at, as well.

Oh and there was a mutiny or something. Or maybe it was just the smell. We'll find out later.

Notes

  • The survivor count increases by one, meaning that at least one child has been born in the Fleet. What? Have the Cylons killed human libido as well?
  • It has been 58 days since the end of "Six of One", when Kara Thrace is given the command of the Demetrius.
  • Sergeant Mathias's first name, Erin, is spoken for the first time on screen - shortly after she is blown to smithereens.
  • This is the first episode of the series in which William Adama does not appear. It is also the first episode of the series in which Roslin does not appear.[1]

Analysis

Questions

  • Why did Baltar give Tyrol such a limp-dick handshake?
  • What have Tigh and Caprica-Six been doing recently?[1]
  • What have Adama and Roslin been doing recently?[1]
  • Why can't the crew seem to believe a Cylon might be telling the truth, even though they serve next to Sharon, a known Cylon, every single day?
  • How many episodes before we see the plot advance in any meaningful way?[1]

Official Statements

  • "Tune in next week!" - Television traditional[1]
